reset to factory settings
To perform a master reset or hard reset on your BlackBerry 9500 hard reset or 9530 Storm hard reset series you will need to:
Options >Security Options > General Settings > click menu and choose wipe handheld.
Factory Reset BlackBerry Storm blackberry reset:
On your BlackBerry storm reset:
Just pull the BlackBerry cell phone battery out for 5 minutes.
BlackBerry storm Cellphone master reset.
Security wipe:
Options>Security Options>Security Wipe
Then choose what to wipe out:
1. All emails
2. User installed apps
3. Media card
Then type blackberry where listed
NOTE: Performing a BlackBerry Master reset BlackBerry Hard Reset on any Cell phone will BlackBerry Factory reset BlackBerry Master clear your cell phone and erase the cellphone completely including contacts, pictures, videos etc. Make sure that this is what you want to do otherwise your data that is stored on your Blackberry will be erased and the master reset blackberry storm hard reset blackberry storm cannot be undone!
Thank you so much for this help... My Blackberry kept crashing and after this Hard reset the Storm now works amazing. This is what i did to restore my Blackberry Storm back to normal. i did a master reset and then did an update.. and all is better now. Thank you so much for this blog

download the BlackBerry desktop manager from blackberry.com and once you plug in the phone it will do a check and see if there is an update available for your BlackBerry Storm.. If you dont need your information, its best to perform the factory or hard reset before upgrading.

Incase somebody else is having this problem: At first when I tried this it didn't work (wipe handheld did not come up as an option, I only got the little list of recently opened apps in middle of screen). Then I took out my battery while it was on and tried it again and the option was there.
